A decal sheet from SBS Model with the markings of the Storchs of the Finnish Air Force, this time for models in 1:48 scale. The larger scale lets both the Storch's characteristic glazed cabin and the less usual Finnish national insignia come into their own.
The Fieseler Fi 156 Storch became famous for its ability to take off and land in a few dozen meters - it owed this to fixed slots, large flaps and long landing gear that absorbed even hard landings in rough ground. Finland used a small number of these machines for liaison flights, observation and carrying officers; the machines wore Finnish national insignia and camouflage adapted to the northern environment.
First mask the extensive cabin glazing and finish the camouflage including a gloss intermediate coat; only then apply the decals. On fabric-covered areas a softener helps, drawing the decal onto the texture of the covering. A final matte coat and discreet weathering will round out the look of a machine serving in field conditions.
This is a stand-alone decal sheet - the aircraft kit is not included in the package.
