A set of waterslide decals from the Polish manufacturer Techmod in 1:48 holding the national insignia of the Finnish Air Force in the form used in the years 1944 to 1945 together with sheets of registration letters and numerals. This is not a kit but an accessory for marking a model already built and painted. The combination of insignia and a separate alphabet makes it possible to put together the registration code of any machine you have documentation for.
The national insignia of the Finnish Air Force was from 1918 a blue swastika, taken over as a luck-bringing motif from an aircraft given to Finland; it shares no origin with the later German symbol. In the period the set is aimed at, the insignia was printed on a gray backing disc — and it is precisely in that that this set differs from the earlier variant for the years 1934 to 1944, where the base is white. The supplementary sheets carry Finnish registration letters and numerals in a gray and a black form, from which the individual codes of particular aircraft were put together on the fuselage.
The letters and numerals are put together one character at a time, so mark out a guide line lightly in advance to line them up by; a pencil line can be rubbed off once dry. Work on a gloss coat and with plenty of water, so that the individual characters can still be brought into line. Check the spacing as you go, as long as the film is movable. On engraved lines use a softener and once dry close the whole area with a matte coat.
This is a separate set of decals. The model and the paints are not included in the package.
