Masks for the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8 in 1:48 scale with two films for the glazing, one for each face, and two national insignia masks.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-8 version was built in the highest numbers of the whole Focke-Wulf family. The radial engine received a system for a short-term increase in power, armor was added and further cannon appeared in underwing gondolas. Machines armed this way were used against bomber formations, where tougher armor paid off more than speed. A connoisseur recognizes a model of this version by the bulges on the gun cover and by the broader silhouette under the wing.
The set carries two glazing masks, one for the outer and one for the inner face, and two masks for the national insignia. The sliding canopy of the Focke-Wulf has relatively few bars, but they are narrow and angled, so taping by hand goes wrong on them more often than on large areas.
Even a well-pressed mask will not help if the spraying is set up wrongly. Paint that is too thin behaves like water and wicks under the edge by capillary action; pressure that is too high drives it there by force. The proven combination is a thicker mix, that is slightly less thinner than when spraying areas, and the pressure reduced to around two thirds. The nozzle is held further from the surface so that the paint partly flashes off on the way and lands on the edge already half dry. Such a pass covers more slowly but holds the edge. One last detail that gets forgotten: a cold workshop slows drying and thereby raises the risk of bleeding. A heated room and a pre-warmed model do more for a clean edge than any change of paint brand.
