A specialized photo-etched set from the Czech firm Eduard, aimed at the landing flaps of a model of the Hawker Hunter in the F.4 and F.5 versions in 1:48 scale. The flaps are precisely the part of the airframe that injection-molded plastic handles worst — in scale they come out too thick and with no internal structure. Photo-etched parts make it possible to build them at a realistic thickness, and if you build the model with the flaps lowered, a view opens into their bay. It is not a model or a kit, but an accessory for a build.
The Hawker Hunter was a British single-seat jet fighter with a swept wing, one of the most successful Western European fighters of the 1950s. The F.4 version followed on from the first production form and brought, among other things, a greater fuel capacity and the ability to carry loads under the wing. The F.5 version was its counterpart with an Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire engine instead of the Rolls-Royce Avon. Both types served with the Royal Air Force, and in their further versions Hunters entered the service of a number of countries.
First decide whether you will build the flaps lowered or retracted — the set makes sense above all in the first case. Cut the plastic parts off with a saw and level the surfaces on a glass plate with abrasive paper. Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife and make the folds along the etched line in a bender. Degrease the metal and prime it. Glue with super glue or slow-setting epoxy and apply it in the smallest of doses, so that it does not run into the ribbing. Before the final gluing, try the whole part dry, as the angle of the flaps affects the overall look of the model.
It is a modeling accessory, not a kit. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
