Dragon 1:48 He 162A-2 Salamander with Engine is an injection-molded plastic kit of the German jet fighter from the end of the Second World War, with a detailed powerplant.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit depicts the German jet fighter Heinkel He 162A-2 Salamander in 1:48 scale. The model from Dragon offers a detailed jet engine: the cover above the engine can be left off to reveal the BMW 003 powerplant. A set of photo-etched parts is also included, such as the instrument panel and seat belts. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
The He 162 was a light jet fighter developed in the war's headlong final stage as a so-called People's Fighter. It was notable for its engine mounted on top of the fuselage spine, wooden structural elements, and a pair of end-plate fins on the tailplane. It saw only limited combat service and remains one of the most interesting jet aircraft of its era.
We recommend thin liquid cement for the plastic and cyanoacrylate for the photo-etch. Finish and paint the engine and cockpit before closing up the fuselage, so they stand out with the cover removed. Late-war German schemes tend to be mottled, so an airbrush and masking suit them well. Apply gloss varnish before decals and unify the surface with a matte topcoat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
