This plastic kit in 1:48 scale captures the HH-34J rescue helicopter in US Air Force colors. The model from Trumpeter is based on a proven tool previously released under the Gallery Models brand, and in this edition it is complemented by a new decal sheet. The kit is injection-molded in plastic; glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package.
The HH-34J is the rescue variant of the piston-engined Sikorsky S-58 helicopter (known in army service as the H-34 Choctaw). Machines of this family served with many air arms on transport, anti-submarine and search and rescue duties. The combat rescue version was deployed to recover downed crews and was distinguished by its characteristic tall fuselage with the engine in the front and a folding nose.
Liquid cement for plastic and careful cleanup of the seams on the fuselage are recommended. Finish and paint the cockpit and the interior before closing the fuselage halves up. An airbrush and a primer coat suit the uniform metal and olive shades; leave the rotor disc and the landing gear until the end. Lay a gloss varnish down before the decals and a matte coat over them.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
