This product is a sheet of decals for 1:48 scale, not a kit of the aircraft. The Hungarian brand HAD models issued it for models of the late production version of the Soviet Ilyushin Il-10 ground-attack aircraft and marked it as part one. A following part two exists for the same subject with a part number of its own; the two complement each other and can be obtained independently. Splitting decals for one type into two sheets is usual where there are more marking options than fit on a single sheet.
The Il-10 was a Soviet single-engine ground-attack aircraft that, after the Second World War, carried on the concept of the armored Il-2. It had an aerodynamically cleaner airframe, all-metal construction and a more powerful engine of the AM series, which made it faster and better to handle than its predecessor. The crew consisted of a pilot and a rear gunner. The late production series differed from the early machines in changes to the armament and in details of the airframe. The type entered service outside the Soviet Union as well and was license-built in Czechoslovakia, which is why it remains an attractive subject for Czech and Central European modelers.
Besides stars and tactical numbers, Soviet ground-attack aircraft carry small technical markings, which in 1:48 scale are applied one piece at a time. Have a shallow dish of lukewarm water, pointed tweezers and cotton buds ready. The surface has to be glossy and degreased. Leave small designs in the water only briefly, or the film will slide off the paper before you can position it. Once it is seated, draw the water off with a bud and let the decal dry undisturbed — moving a half-dried decal leads to tearing. Use a softener sparingly and never press on it until it has dried. Finally seal the decals with varnish and only then weather them.
This is a decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
