North American F-86K Sabre Dog 1:48 from Special Hobby — an injection-molded plastic kit of the interceptor version of the Sabre with resin and photo-etched extras.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the interceptor version of the famous fighter, the North American F-86K Sabre Dog, in 1:48 scale from Special Hobby. The box combines gray plastic sprues, clear parts and extras in resin as well as photo-etched parts. Because of the character of the short-run tooling it is a build better suited to more experienced modelers.
The F-86K was an all-weather interceptor derived from the radar-equipped F-86D version. It was adapted for European users within NATO and, unlike the F-86D, it carried gun armament instead of a rocket tray. A large part of the machines was built under license in Europe and the aircraft served for a long time with a number of European air forces. The nickname Sabre Dog refers to the fatter nose with the radar.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic; wash the resin parts free of the mold release agent first, cut off the casting blocks and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Short-run tooling calls for careful cleaning up and test fitting. A natural metal finish comes out best on a smooth base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
