A set of cut masking templates from kabuki paper for a model of the Lockheed Vega 5B in 1:48 scale, in the MARKING variant for spraying the markings.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lockheed Vega 5B is an American single-engine high-wing monoplane from the turn of the 1920s and 1930s with a monocoque wooden fuselage and a cleanly resolved wing without external struts. Machines of this type were made famous by the long-distance flights between the world wars, among them the solo crossing of the Atlantic that Amelia Earhart accomplished in 1932.
These are cut masking templates from kabuki paper for 1:48 scale, in the variant designated MARKING, that is for spraying the markings. Sprayed markings have the advantage over decals that no step and no glossy film arise on the surface around the shape, and the paint can then be aged uniformly with the rest of the coat. The exact extent of the set, and the kit it is cut for, are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The base has to be smooth, dry and degreased. Seat the template in place, press the edges down carefully and apply the paint in thin coats perpendicular to the surface, so that it does not run under the edge. A lighter shade sprays best over a white ground applied before the shape itself. Take the paper off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch; tweezers and the tip of a sharp blade help.
The set is for modelers who want to have their markings sprayed instead of stuck on, and for anyone who does not wish for visible edges on decal sheets. A model, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
