The ADVANCED form is a higher grade of mask set than the basic version and is meant for a modeler who expects more from a build than just a clean cockpit. The manufacturer New Ware supplies the set as self-adhesive parts cut on a backing film, ready to be applied straight away. The difference from the basic grade lies in the extent of the masked surfaces. The set is designed for the ICM 48902 kit.
On a jet aircraft, masking does not concern the glazing alone. Other places can be dealt with too, where a crisp edge is needed or where the surface is to stay bare, and it is exactly here that the higher grade of the set pays off. Preparing such masks from tape by hand takes hours and the result tends to be uneven, whereas a cut part fits the first time. It saves time above all on repeated shapes, where every inaccuracy would immediately be compared with the piece next to it.
Work in groups and do not apply everything at once, or you will lose track of what is already done. Before spraying, look the model over against a sharp light and check whether an edge is standing up anywhere. Spray at lower pressure and in thin coats, as a heavy coat at the edge of a mask creates a step you can feel with a fingernail once it is off. Remove the masks by pulling at an angle back across themselves rather than straight up, which puts the least strain on the edge of the paint. If you plan to varnish, take the masks off before the final varnish.
The package holds only the mask set. A kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
