1:48 McDonnell Douglas T-45 Goshawk pitot tube and angle of attack probe is a turned metal detail set from MASTER. It is not an airplane kit but a set of replacement parts for the final detailing.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal set from the Polish brand MASTER for a plastic kit of the McDonnell Douglas T-45 Goshawk trainer in 1:48 scale. The set contains a pitot tube and an angle of attack probe, that is the two fine sensors on the forward fuselage, which in plastic are always too thick and are easily broken off during the build. The metal version has the right slender section and an accurate shape at the tip and will still be whole after years in a display case.
The T-45 Goshawk is an advanced jet trainer of the US Navy, derived from the British Hawk type and adapted for operation from aircraft carriers. The changes included strengthened landing gear, an arrestor hook and other features needed for landing on deck. The angle of attack probe is a crucial instrument for carrier aircraft, because holding the angle of attack precisely is key on the approach to the ship.
Cut off the plastic parts and sand the area smooth. Drill the holes with a micro drill to match the diameter of the pins and dry-fit the parts first, so that the angle and the projection are right. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue in small droplets. Degrease the metal and go over it with a primer, otherwise the paint will crack on the smooth surface. Fit both probes only once the varnish and the decals are finished.
The set is supplied unpainted and without a kit. The glue, the paints and the base model are not included in the package.
