A decal sheet from the manufacturer Kits-World with the technical and service lettering of the airframe for models of the Phantom II fighter in versions F-4B, F-4C and F-4D in 1:48 scale. It is not the scheme of a particular machine and not national markings, but a collection of the tiny inscriptions found on the real aircraft by service panels, filler ports, emergency controls and warning points. The extent of the set and the number of individual inscriptions follow the illustration on the packaging.
The Phantom II was a twin-engine two-seat supersonic aircraft with a characteristic cranked wing with dihedral on the outer sections and a horizontal tail surface angled downward. Version F-4B was created for naval aviation, the F-4C and F-4D for the land-based air force; they differ among other things in equipment and in details of the landing gear and the forward fuselage. The service lettering of the airframe was extensive on these machines and forms a prominent part of the overall look of the aircraft.
Sets of technical lettering differ from schemes in one thing: the designs are small, there are many of them and each one is stuck on separately. You will make the work easier with tweezers with fine flat tips and a damp flat brush with which you draw the decal off the tweezers onto the model. Always soak a few pieces at a time rather than the whole sheet at once, as a tiny film is easily lost in the water. Go through the placement beforehand against the diagram for the sheet and tick the markings off in groups. Once dry, the tiny text is brought out by a light panel wash, which catches around the lettering and gives it depth.
