A sheet with four machines of the Gustav series flown by well-known fighter pilots at Stalingrad, in Lapland and on the Croatian side of the Eastern Front. Three of the four subjects carry supplementary wing armament in gondolas.

The G-2 version was the first widely spread form of the so-called Gustav and in 1942 appeared on every German front at once. The supplementary set with cannons in underwing gondolas, designated R6, turned it into a heavily armed fighter suited against bombers, though at the price of poorer agility. This print gathers four machines flown by men with resounding names.
The Lapland pair of subjects is especially rewarding for a model: the northern units used non-standard combinations of shades and in photographs their aircraft tended to be covered with a layer of winter finish in varying degrees of wear. The Croatian Staffel in turn carried national insignia of its own differing from the German ones, which makes a model into a piece that will not be lost in a display case.
With the subjects with gondolas it is necessary to reckon with part of the print coming close to the parting plane of the wing parts; the seam therefore has to be sanded and clear-coated, otherwise the film will lift at the edge.
