1:48 P-51K-5 SPACE is a set of relief 3D decals from Eduard for the cockpit of a model of the American P-51K fighter. The instruments and panels get color and relief without painting.

The SPACE range is an alternative to photo-etched interior sets: instead of thin sheet metal it works with a decal that has both printed color and a raised relief. It has no adhesive layer of its own; it is transferred from the backing paper to the instrument panel and other cockpit parts by the wet method. The interior is then legible without your reaching for a size zero brush. The set is an accessory — the model, paints and glue are not in the package. Check the exact composition and extent of the set against the manufacturer's information.
The North American P-51 Mustang was an American single-seat fighter with a range that allowed it long-distance escort duties. The P-51K form differs from the more widespread D variant above all in a different propeller, because the machines of this series were built in a different plant. The production block designation five gives the particular level of series modifications; the individual blocks differed from one another in small points of equipment.
First remove the molded dials and levers from the plastic part so that the surface is flat, and degrease it. Moisten the backing paper under the part with a sponge and a drop of detergent; do not immerse the whole sheet in water. Grip the released element with tweezers and seat it exactly at the first attempt. Fix it with PVA (white) glue; the manufacturer does not recommend cyanoacrylate glue. Omit the decal softener, as its chemistry attacks the printed resin. A drop of gloss varnish on the dials creates the impression of glass, and a matte varnish evens the rest of the cockpit out.
The set is an accessory for a model. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
