This is not a kit of an aircraft but a detailing addition for the cockpit. The set holds a photo-etched instrument panel printed in color at the factory, including the dials and the lettering. In the open cockpit of a biplane the instrument panel is the most exposed place on the whole model, because nothing covers it. In 1:32 scale this small improvement therefore changes the overall impression more than most other additions.
The Polikarpov I-153, nicknamed the Chaika, was a Soviet fighter biplane whose upper wing was given a characteristic gull shape for a better view from the cockpit. It differed from the older biplanes in its retractable landing gear and its radial engine, which made it one of the last and most capable fighter biplanes of all. It was used at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s and in the first months of the fighting on the Eastern Front, where it already lagged behind the modern monoplanes and shifted largely to attacks on ground targets.
Always try the fit dry before gluing. Sand the raised instruments off the plastic part, so that the photo-etched panel seats flat. Glue it with a drop of cyanoacrylate or a glue intended for photo-etched parts, applied with a wooden stick around the edge. Protect the printed surface from solvents and from the touch of fingers. Because the cockpit is open, we recommend finishing the area around the panel as well, that is, the frame, the control column and the seat with its belts; otherwise the photo-etched part stands out too much and exposes the rest of the interior.
This is an addition for the cockpit, not a kit of an aircraft. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
