SX-Art masking stencils for a Yak-130 model in 1:48 scale. The self-adhesive masks shorten masking before painting and give sharp sprayed edges.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains self-adhesive masking stencils for a model of the Yak-130 trainer and light combat aircraft, also written Jak-130, in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit and not decals. The stencils serve to cover areas during painting and to spray motifs that would otherwise have to be dealt with by a decal.
Masking by hand with cut tape is tedious and imprecise on a jet aircraft with a glazed canopy. A precisely cut stencil fits the shape of the part, so the frames of the glazing come out regular and the sprayed edges sharp. Where masks replace a decal the advantage is even more noticeable, because the paint lies directly on the surface, no glossy outline remains after it on a matte finish and silvering is no risk.
The surface must be degreased and fully cured. Reduce the tack of a stencil by laying it briefly on clean cloth, so that it does not tear the base away when removed. Stick the masks down, press the edges carefully, above all around the frames of the glazing, and cover the remaining areas with masking tape or film. Spray the paint thinned, in several thin coats and at a low pressure. Take the stencils off shortly after the paint has set, with tweezers at a sharp angle. Reckon with single use.
The package contains the masking stencils alone. A model, paints and thinners are not part of it.
