This resin detail set contains a pair of spoked wheels with Palmer tires of the 700 x 75 size, in 1:48 scale. The castings faithfully capture the tension of the spokes, the tire and the tread pattern, which an injection-molded plastic wheel cannot manage. It is an aftermarket accessory for models of aircraft of the First World War period.
Wheels with Palmer tires were among the widespread landing gear equipment of First World War aircraft. Typical were exposed wire-spoked wheels, covered with fabric on a number of machines but left visible on many types. The 700 x 75 size corresponds to a common size used on single-seat as well as two-seat aircraft of the period.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts and separate them carefully from the casting blocks. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Leave the tires in a matte gray-black or ocher leather tone and bring out the metal rims and spokes with a fine metallic shade; final dust and mud are added by a light wash and pigment.
This is an accessory set of wheels, not an airplane model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, without glue or paints.
