Decals with technical markings and bands are included in the package. The set is not an aircraft model: it is stores that the modeler hangs under the wing or the fuselage of a model that is already built. The resin castings offer crisper shapes and finer surface detail than injection-molded plastic allows in this scale.
The Mk 83 is an American aircraft bomb of the nominal weight class of one thousand pounds, that is roughly 454 kg, from the unified Mk 80 family. The first-generation guidance kit, known as Paveway, added a nose section with a detector for reflected laser light and tail surfaces with control elements, so the bomb followed the point marked by the laser. Patterns are distinguished by different tail surfaces for lower and higher carrier speeds. The designation without thermal protection refers to the variant with no heat-resistant protective coating on the body of the bomb.
Cut the resin parts off the casting blocks with a saw or a cutter and sand the cuts wet and with respiratory protection. Wash the parts in warm soapy water so that the mold release agent disappears, otherwise neither paint nor glue will hold. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint the bombs and apply the decals before hanging them under the aircraft, as they are far easier to work on loose. Lay a gloss clear coat under the decals so that no silvered edge appears, and once it has dried unify the surface with a matte varnish. Finally check that both bombs hang at the same height and in line with the direction of flight.
