A figure set in 1:48 scale with pilots of the South Korean aerobatic team Black Eagles. An accessory for airplane models and for airfield dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Black Eagles are the aerobatic team of the Republic of Korea Air Force and belong among the teams that appear regularly at the big air shows. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject: the striking colors of the aircraft and the pilots' flying suits hold a whole display case together, and a single figure standing beside the airplane is enough to do it.
These are pilot figures in 1:48 scale, the scale in which most models of jet trainers and combat aircraft are released. The number of figures, their poses and the extent of the package are given in the manufacturer's instructions and illustration. Use them to check in advance whether a pose suits the scene you have in mind, because standing and seated figures cannot be used interchangeably.
Assemble the parts dry first and check the pose, and only then join them for good. Fill and sand the gaps at the shoulders and the waist; on a painted figure they show up clearly otherwise. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. In 1:48 scale it pays to paint broadly and cleanly rather than to go after fine detail, which will be lost on a figure two centimeters tall anyway; the exception is the helmet, which is worth doing carefully, because it draws the eye.
It suits builders of airplane models and airfield dioramas whose aircraft lack a crew or ground personnel. The figures also give the scene a sense of scale, so the airplane itself reads more clearly beside them. The airplane model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
