A 1:48 masking set for the Soviet T-55 medium tank from SX-Art covers the vision ports, the optics and the lights of the model. In the smaller scale it saves work that tape cut by hand could barely manage.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is neither a kit nor a part that changes the shape of a model. It is a set of pre-cut masks for the model of the Soviet T-55 medium tank in 1:48 scale, that is, in a smaller scale than the one armored vehicles are most often built in. That is exactly where ready-made masks show their worth most.
The T-55 is a medium tank with a low cast dome-shaped turret. Its optics, the driver's and commander's vision ports and the headlights on the front of the hull are small even in 1:35 scale; in 1:48 scale they shrink to areas the size of a pinhead. Tape cut by hand stops behaving predictably at that size, because the slightest shift is enough for the edge to cover the detail next to it. A pre-cut piece has its shape determined in advance and all you do is settle it in place with tweezers.
In a smaller scale the thickness of the coat you lay down matters, so spray thinly and rather more often. Fit the masks onto a degreased model before the primer and leave them in place through the base shade and any lightening. Take them off once the varnish has dried but still before the final dust weathering, if you want the optics to look as dusty as the rest of the vehicle. Anyone who wants the optics cleanly glossy instead leaves the mask on right to the very end. Both options are legitimate; just decide in advance.
The package holds masking material only. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
