Hauler 1:48 StuG III Ausf. B, fenders is a partial photo-etched set for replacing the plastic fenders on the Tamiya kit. It targets one specific shortcoming of the plastic model.

The set does not deal with the whole model but with one part of it on which the simplification of the plastic is best seen. A fender is in principle a thin sheet of metal and an injection mold cannot make it that way. A photo-etched metal part has the right thickness, a sharp edge and can be shaped, so the model gains a silhouette matching the subject. For a modeler who does not want to undertake a complete rebuild it is the simplest route to a marked change of appearance.
It is an accessory to the Tamiya plastic kit, not a standalone model. The scope is smaller than that of the complete photo-etched set in the same range. Anyone who wants to treat the other parts of the vehicle as well can combine the set with a more extensive one or with a separate set of grilles.
Cut the plastic fenders off as close to the hull as possible and level the remainder with a file, as otherwise the metal will not seat and the joint will show. Try the metal part dry first and only then glue it. Make the bends over the whole length in one go, not in sections. Apply the cyanoacrylate at a few points, align the part and only after checking it add glue along the length of the joint. Degrease the metal before painting and use a base coat. If you want to suggest service wear, bend the metal before gluing, as after painting the paint would flake off.
