The real subject

The Su-27 is a large Soviet fighter which entered service in the middle of the 1980s and to this day forms the basis of a whole family of derived types. Precisely because the machine is so tall, it cannot be boarded or serviced without a ladder; ground equipment belongs to it as much a matter of course as landing gear belongs to an aircraft. The early epithet in the name refers to the older form of the type.

What the set contains

According to the name, a boarding ladder to the cockpit, chocks under the wheels and a separate service ladder, which the ground crew use when working on the fuselage. The number of parts and the exact extent of the package are given in the manufacturer's instructions. The equipment is intended for a model in 1:48 scale; compare the height of the ladder with the stance of your own model.

Building and painting tips

Cut the excess material and the marks left by production off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully; with the thin rungs of a ladder work in small pieces, so that they do not break off. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: cement for plastic models on polystyrene, cyanoacrylate glue on resin and printed parts. Ground equipment on an airfield tends to be more battered and dirtier than the aircraft, so bolder scuffing of the edges and a layer of dust pay off on it. Shim the chocks so that they bear on the tire and on the surface of the base, otherwise the scene will betray that they are merely lying beside it.

For modelers who want to build a whole scene on the apron around a finished aircraft, not just the model itself. The model, figures, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
