Responsibility details are not available.
The SX-Art set contains self-adhesive stencils for spraying the camouflage pattern onto a model of the Su-30MKK in 1:48 scale. The stencils are laid onto a base that is already sprayed and define the areas of the further shades; they are not masks for the cockpit glazing.
The Su-30MKK is a two-seat export variant from the family of heavy multirole aircraft of the Su-27, intended for air-to-air as well as air-to-ground tasks. It has a long integral fuselage, two engine nacelles and large vertical tail surfaces, that is, a great many large smooth areas on which every inaccuracy of a transition shows.
On modern jet aircraft the camouflage on the real machine is sprayed through a stencil and the edges are sharp. A stencil applied directly to the surface gives exactly that. But when you want to soften the edge slightly, for instance to simulate a worn finish, the stencil can be packed lightly in some places with a thin strip of masking tape, so that it stands a few tenths of a millimeter above the surface and the paint scatters finely under it. On one model it is sensible to keep to one approach; mixing sharp and soft edges without intent looks careless. Before spraying, lower both the pressure and the amount of paint, because on large smooth areas every drop and every extra coat shows.
The package contains masking stencils only. The model, the paints and the airbrush are not part of it.
