Photo-etched parts for building a model of the Soviet Sukhoi Su-27 fighter aircraft in 1:48 scale. The set adds fine details that injection-molded plastic cannot manage.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sukhoi Su-27 is a Soviet twin-engine fighter aircraft of the heavy category, designed for air combat at long range and for escort duties. You recognize it by the smooth blending of the wing into the fuselage, the pair of vertical tails and the large air intakes under the wing center section. It entered service in the eighties, is listed under the designation Flanker in the NATO code and became the basis of an extensive family of two-seat and later upgraded versions. Its large fuel load gave it above-average range.
Photo-etched parts for a model of the Su-27 in 1:48 scale. Photo-etching is produced by etching the shape out of thin metal sheet, so the parts have a faithful thickness and sharp edges. Which parts of the model the set covers and which kit it is intended for are stated in the manufacturer's instructions.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard backing, and never break them out with your fingers. Make the bends over the edge of a steel ruler or in a photo-etch bending tool so that they stay sharp. The parts are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a minute amount; on larger areas a glue with a slower set proves useful. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal, otherwise the paint holds poorly on it.
The set is for modelers who want to give a finished model fine details and do not mind delicate work. Have tweezers, a sharp knife and good light ready. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
