This product is a decal sheet in 1:48 scale aimed at Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc machines associated with No. 132 Wing of the RAF operating from the North Weald airfield. It is neither a model nor an accessory set of parts: you get a sheet of decals with which you mark a model built from a kit of your own of the matching type and scale. The manufacturer is the Norwegian brand Vingtor Decals, which has long devoted itself to subjects connected with Norwegian aviation and with Norwegian crews in the RAF.
The Spitfire Mk.IXc is the version with the so-called universal c wing, which allowed various combinations of armament. It is precisely by the details of the wing, the exhausts and the shape of the cockpit canopy that the individual sub-versions of the Spitfire differ, which is why you should compare before buying whether your kit matches precisely the Mk.IXc variant. The decals also suit modelers who want to replace a yellowed or damaged sheet from the original kit packaging.
A decal holds best on a smooth gloss surface, so after the paint has been sprayed and has dried, clear coat the area with gloss. Cut the individual motifs out as close as you can so that the carrier film shows as little as possible. Soak them in clean lukewarm water, slide them onto a dampened place, line the position up with a brush and blot the excess water away with a cotton swab. On scribed lines, rivets and transitions a decal softener helps; let it work and do not handle the part in the meantime. Once dry, unify the whole model with a matte or satin clear coat, which reliably hides the edges of the film.
This is an accessory for modelers. The kit, paints, glue and clear coat are not included in the package.
