A decal sheet from the Swedish maker Maestro Models. It contains the Swedish national insignia of the m/1927 pattern in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft nor a kit, but an accessory with which you can mark a model that has no decals of its own, or one whose original sheet has yellowed or come out badly. The set also suits cases where you are building a conversion and need the insignia in several sizes.
The Swedish Air Force uses a stylized emblem with three crowns as its national marking. The m/1927 pattern is its earlier form and it appears on machines of the prewar and wartime period as well as on aircraft that stayed in service longer. The national insignia is found on airframes in several sizes depending on its position on the fuselage, the wing or the rudder, and that is exactly why a separate sheet pays off: it makes it possible to add a missing size or to cover several models from one sheet.
Decals always belong on a glossy base. A flat surface has a microscopic structure, air stays under the film and the so-called silvering effect appears. So coat the area with gloss clear, trim the film of the decal as closely as possible to the motif and soak it in warm water only long enough for it to release from the paper, no longer. Put a drop of water on the spot, slide the decal on and draw the excess off with a cloth. On riveted or broken-up surfaces decal softener helps, as it softens the film and draws it into the engraving. Once it has dried, degrease the surface and go over it with a flat or semi-gloss coat, so that the edges of the film disappear. With older sheets it is a good idea to spray the sheet with a thin layer of clear before applying it, so that it does not fall apart.
This is an accessory for modelers, not a model or a kit. The model, paints and clear coat are not included in the package.
