An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat variant of the light fighter aircraft Tigershark in 1:48 scale from the Taiwanese brand Freedom Model Kits. The brand has a whole line of boxings for this type and this one is devoted to the two-seat configuration. The number of parts, the contents of the package and the number of decal schemes are stated in the instructions enclosed with the kit.
The F-20 Tigershark came about as a private development project of the Northrop company, derived from the successful line of light fighters F-5. Against that line it got a single more powerful engine, a new radar and upgraded avionics. Only prototypes of the single-seat configuration were built; the program ended in the mid-1980s without series production and without customer orders. The two-seat version stayed at the project stage and never flew — the model therefore captures a variant that was never realized in metal.
A two-seat cockpit means two sets of instrument panels, two seats and longer glazing. Finish and spray the interior completely, therefore, before you close the fuselage. Fill and sand the seams on the fuselage and at the wing roots — a smooth airframe forgives nothing. Rather mask the glazing of the long canopy than line the frames with a brush. Lay down gloss clear before the decals and once dry unify the surface with matte or semi-gloss. On this type it is a good idea to count on a marked weight in the nose, so try beforehand whether the model sits down on its tail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
