This plastic kit captures the American TR-1 high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft in 1:48 scale. The model from Italeri is injection-molded in plastic and makes it possible to build both the single-seat TR-1A variant and the two-seat TR-1B trainer. The box holds a clear cockpit part and a decal sheet. Thanks to the large wingspan it is a big model. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
The TR-1 is an improved, larger and better equipped version of the famous Lockheed U-2 reconnaissance aircraft. The machines served for high-altitude reconnaissance during the Cold War; the two-seat TR-1B was used for pilot training. Characteristic are the long glider-like wings, which allow long flights at great altitude.
The long wings call for a firm and straight joint with the fuselage, so mind the correct angle and symmetry. Finish the cockpit before you close up the fuselage. The typical dark gray to black finishes come into their own with an airbrush and light shading of the panel lines. Apply a gloss varnish before the decals and unify the surface with a matte overcoat afterwards.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
