Metal turnbuckles type B (30 pieces) in 1:48 scale from GasPatch models — accurate rigging turnbuckles for tensioning biplane bracing faithfully.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of thirty metal turnbuckles of type B in 1:48 scale from the Greek manufacturer GasPatch models. This is not a model but fine detail fittings for rigging, that is for tensioning the steel bracing wires between the wings and the fuselage of biplanes. The turnbuckles are turned from metal, which gives them the strength and the faithful shape that neither resin nor plastic can offer.
A type B turnbuckle has an eye for threading the wire at one end and a flat plate at the other, by which it is anchored to the airframe. Historic biplanes hold their shape thanks to a system of pre-tensioned wires, and it was turnbuckles that allowed them to be tensioned. On a model they replace unrealistic plastic imitations and raise the impression of scale fidelity markedly.
The turnbuckle is threaded onto the rigging thread (drawn monofilament or elastic rigging thread, for example) and fixed with a drop of super glue. We recommend working with tweezers and a magnifier; the small metal parts can be painted once degreased.
The set holds turnbuckles only. The rigging thread, glue and the airplane model are not included in the package.
