A resin detail set that captures the British Vickers aircraft machine gun with the Hyland B type loading handle in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for superdetailing. The package holds a pair, two resin castings, to be built into an aircraft kit.
The Vickers was a British machine gun of 7.7 mm caliber (.303 British) working on the barrel recoil principle, with belt feed. In its aircraft form it served as a fixed, forward-firing weapon synchronized with the propeller; the water jacket of the original infantry gun was replaced by an air-cooled perforated jacket.
This version captures the form with the Hyland B type loading handle, that is with a particular modification of the cocking control. The set suits British and Allied fighter biplanes of the First World War.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent residue, separate the casting blocks carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. The perforated jacket and the mechanism come out well with a dark metal base, a fine dry brush and a discreet patina.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as resin castings. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
