The set contains a resin pylon in the shape of the letter Y for the Swedish Saab J 35B Draken in 1:48 scale and two sets of adapters to go with it. It is not a model of an aircraft nor a kit, but an accessory for the stores: a branched pylon makes it possible to hang two items of armament side by side on one point under the wing or the fuselage, and the adapters then handle the transition between the pylon and the particular load. Maestro Models is a Swedish brand and accessories for the Draken are at the core of its range.
The Saab 35 Draken was a Swedish supersonic fighter with a characteristic double delta wing, which made it possible to combine high speed with a short takeoff. The J 35B version followed on from the first production release and brought more sophisticated onboard fire control systems. The Draken served in the Swedish Air Force for long decades and, in various forms, in other Nordic countries as well. Branched pylons were a practical way of increasing the number of items of armament carried without interfering with the structure of the wing.
The most important thing is being level. The pylon has to sit square and both arms at the same height, otherwise the load hangs askew and that shows on a finished model at once. Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw and level the mating surface on sandpaper laid on glass. Attach them with cyanoacrylate glue and, on the load-bearing part, rather pre-drill the glued joint and reinforce it with wire. Painting is easier in stages: paint the pylon and the load separately and assemble them only at the end. Try the adapters dry first with whatever you want to hang - and only then glue.
This is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, the armament, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
