An injection-molded plastic kit of the British battleship HMS King George V in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya, out of the Waterline range. The model is built as a waterline version, that is without the lower part of the hull, and you can display it on a flat surface or in a diorama with water. The exterior detail of the ship is captured including the superstructures, the bridge and the masts with radar and the anti-aircraft armament. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
King George V was the lead ship of the British battleship class of the same name, completed at the end of 1940. In May 1941 she took part in the pursuit of the German battleship Bismarck and saw action for the first time. From 1941 to 1942 she served on escort and patrol operations in the Atlantic, and in 1943 she headed for the Mediterranean, where she covered the Allied landings in Sicily and in Italy. She is among the best known British battleships of the Second World War.
Glue the small parts with thin cement for plastic, drop by drop; a metal weight for the stability of the hull is usually included with the model. Prime the hull and decks and paint them with an airbrush, and finish the anti-aircraft guns and radars with a brush. For a finer result, added photo-etched railings and nets work well, as does displaying the model on a stand or in a water scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
