This is a set of 12 turned metal barrels for the Japanese dual-purpose (anti-aircraft and naval) 127 mm (12.7 cm) gun of 40 calibers length, Type 89, in 1:700 scale. It is not a kit but an accurate replacement part (a detail set) from the Polish manufacturer MASTER with which you replace the plastic barrels from the box. The turned finish guarantees a perfectly round cross-section and a sharp muzzle, which plastic cannot reach.
The Type 89 gun of 127 mm caliber was the standard dual-purpose weapon of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Second World War. The great majority of larger Japanese warships, from cruisers to aircraft carriers and battleships, carried it in twin mounts. A set of twelve barrels therefore covers the complete secondary armament of a number of models.
Cut off the original plastic barrels and clean up the seating face of the mount. Glue the metal barrels on with cyanoacrylate. Degrease the surface before painting and use a primer for metal. Metal barrels also survive handling better and break less often than thin plastic parts.
This is an accessory for a model, not a standalone kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package.
