Fujimi 1:700 IJN Zuiho 1944 Special Version — a plastic model of the Japanese light aircraft carrier in her state of 1944, in a special edition with a decal for the camouflage of the flight deck.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the Japanese light aircraft carrier Zuiho from the manufacturer Fujimi in a special edition which, according to the name, holds a decal of the camouflage pattern for the flight deck. The model captures the ship in her 1944 form, when she carried a striking deceptive camouflage — one of the most effective camouflage schemes of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
Zuiho was created by conversion from a submarine tender and entered service in 1940 as a light aircraft carrier. Despite her modest dimensions she took part in a number of key operations in the Pacific, including the battles off Santa Cruz and in the Philippine Sea. In October 1944 she was committed to the Battle of Cape Engaño as part of Vice Admiral Ozawa's decoy force, where she was lost after raids by an American carrier air group. At that time her flight deck carried a deceptive finish meant to imitate the silhouette of a different type of ship from above.
Apply the deck camouflage decal onto a gloss base and use a decal softener so that it settles into the surface relief. Spray the hull Japanese naval gray, and a dark wash will bring out the small elements of the anti-aircraft armament. The ship comes out well on a simple sea base with a wake astern.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
