A detail accessory from Tetra Model Works in 1:700 scale. This is not a ship model but a wooden deck set in real veneer complemented by photo-etched parts, which you fit onto a model of the Japanese aircraft carrier Ryujo in her state after the second refit. The veneer is laser-cut to the outline of the decks of the Aoshima kit, with the planks and seams marked out.
The Ryujo was a light aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy. During her service she went through alterations that improved her stability and her aircraft equipment; the version after the second refit matches her later operational appearance. The wooden deck areas are a conspicuous detail of a model.
Degrease the plastic surface before sticking the deck down. The veneer can usually just be pressed on thanks to its own adhesive layer; the edges can be secured spot by spot with super glue. Separate the enclosed photo-etch with a sharp knife, shape it at the edges and glue it on with a tiny drop of super glue. The wood can be left natural, or toned lightly with oils and washes.
This is an accessory, not a ship model. The base Aoshima kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
