Fujimi 1:700 IJN Maya 1944 Special Version — a plastic model of the Japanese heavy cruiser in her state of 1944, in a special edition with the parts for the lower hull and a base.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the Japanese heavy cruiser Maya from the manufacturer Fujimi in a special edition which, according to the name, also holds the parts of the lower hull and a base. The model can therefore be finished as a full-hull version on a stand and displayed outside the classic waterline treatment. The state shown is that of 1944, when the ship served after her rebuild into an anti-aircraft cruiser.
Maya belonged to the four heavy cruisers of the Takao class, completed at the start of the 1930s. After damage in 1943 she went through an extensive modification: she lost one main-caliber gun turret and received markedly strengthened anti-aircraft armament in its place — she thus became one of the few Japanese cruisers specialized in the air defense of a group. In October 1944, on her way to the Battle of Leyte, she was hit by torpedoes from an American submarine in the Palawan Passage and sank.
Spray the lower hull in a dark red anti-fouling color and the part above the waterline in Imperial Japanese Navy gray — separate the boundary with masking tape. Bond the rich anti-aircraft armament of 1944 with a thin cement and work with tweezers. A dark wash will bring out the intricate superstructure.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
