A plastic kit of the Japanese heavy cruiser Mogami as she appeared in 1942, 1:700 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Mogami was a Japanese cruiser that gave her name to the whole class of four ships. She was originally built with gun turrets of a smaller caliber, but before the outbreak of the war in the Pacific she went through rearmament with heavy 20.3 centimeter gun armament in twin turrets. Torpedo armament and equipment for floatplanes aft supplemented it. The year 1942 in the name identifies the ship in her wartime state, that is still before the later extensive conversion that changed the after part of the ship beyond recognition.
An unassembled plastic kit in 1:700 scale, which is the most widespread for warship models. The finished model measures just under thirty centimeters, so it fits into an ordinary cabinet while the busy detail of the superstructure stays legible on it. The extent of the parts, the treatment of the hull and the marking options offered are given in the manufacturer's instructions and on the box.
Work from the bottom up: first the hull and the decks, then the superstructures, the masts and the guns. Paint the decks and the sides before you fit the small equipment that a brush will not reach afterwards. The thin masts and cranes are fragile, so leave them until the end. Railings, ladders and rigging from photo-etched accessories will raise the model, but they are bought separately. Apply the paint in thin coats so that the fine shapes do not get flooded.
Paints, glue, photo-etched accessories and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
