A collector's kit of the Japanese armored cruiser Iwate (1904) in 1:700 scale from ROP o.s. - a short-run model of a ship from the era of the Russo-Japanese War.
Responsibility details are not available.
A short-run kit of the armored cruiser Iwate as she was in 1904, in 1:700 scale, from ROP o.s. It is a collector's model aimed rather at experienced modelers. Given the character of such small runs of this subject, it is most likely a resin kit, possibly with photo-etched parts added; confirm the exact contents on the packaging of the particular item. The model captures the silhouette of the ship with her characteristic funnels and gun turrets.
Iwate was a Japanese armored cruiser of the Izumo class, built at a British yard at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. She entered service at the beginning of the century and was one of the modern units of the Imperial Japanese Navy. During the Russo-Japanese War of 1904 and 1905 she took part in the key naval operations, including the decisive encounter at Tsushima. In later years she served, among other things, as a training ship for naval cadets.
With resin parts, first wash the surface to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. The hull can be displayed complete, or cut down to the waterline and set into a water surface on a base. Fine guard rails and fittings will stand out with additional photo-etched parts. Use an airbrush for painting, with the shades of the period Japanese finish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
