An injection-molded plastic kit of the American heavy cruiser USS San Francisco CA-38 as she was in 1942, in 1:700 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The model allows a build with a full hull as well as in a waterline version and holds a stand. Scout seaplanes and clear parts are included as well.
USS San Francisco CA-38 was a heavy cruiser of the New Orleans class of the US Navy with a main armament of 203 mm caliber. In 1942 she joined the fighting in the Pacific and is associated above all with the night naval engagements off Guadalcanal. Her appearance from this period matches the earlier wartime state of the ship and the finish of the day.
Build the hull as a whole or as a waterline and clean up the joints carefully. Glue the plastic with a thin liquid cement and lay the colors on with an airbrush over a base coat. A faithful rendering of the period camouflage and accenting of the deck detail are recommended. The fine fittings can be completed with photo-etched sets, which are not included in the package.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
