A plastic kit of the American fast battleship USS South Dakota in the ship scale of 1:700 from the Vee Hobby brand. The Platinum Box is the highest-placed of three levels of packaging of the same model. What the package contains in addition is stated on the packaging.
The USS South Dakota was the first unit of the class of the same name of fast battleships of the US Navy. She had a shorter and thoroughly armored hull than the older types and the main armament concentrated into three gun turrets. During her service in the Pacific she escorted aircraft carrier formations, where she was useful mainly through her dense anti-aircraft defense. Over the course of the war her radar equipment and the composition of her light armament changed repeatedly, so the particular form of the ship depends on the chosen date.
Lay the build out in subassemblies: hull and deck, superstructure, armament, masts. Paint the superstructure separately and glue it on only after painting; you will save yourself the masking. Spray the gray shades with an airbrush, thinned and in thin coats. Fit the finest parts, that is the antennas, ladders and barrels of the light guns, last of all and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue in very small doses. Any photo-etched parts should be bent over a straight metal edge and degreased before gluing.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
