Injection-molded plastic kit of the Avia B.534 series IV in 1:72 scale. This boxing differs from other series IV releases mainly in its choice of decal schemes — it includes markings for the Bulgarian Air Force and for the Czechoslovak police, among others. The series IV airframe is recognizable by its enclosed, glazed cockpit canopy. It is a short-run kit with plastic moldings, clear parts and a decal sheet. The binding source for the list of markings is the contents of the package.
The Avia B.534 was a Czechoslovak fighter biplane of the 1930s and one of the best fighter biplanes of its time. It was powered by a license-built Hispano-Suiza V12 engine and armed with machine guns. The structure was of mixed construction, with fabric-covered surfaces, characteristic bracing wires and interplane struts. The aircraft formed the backbone of the Czechoslovak Air Force at the time of the Munich crisis and later served with other air forces as well.
This is a short-run kit better suited to more experienced modelers — expect to clean up the moldings, sand down the sprue gates and dry-fit the parts before gluing. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement. The bracing between the wings is the key step: seat the struts precisely and add the wires from fine wire or thread. Prime the model before painting; camouflage and national insignia go on best with an airbrush, and a light wash will bring out the panel detail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
