An Artwox Model 1:700 wooden deck for a model of the German battleship Scharnhorst as of 1943 is a pre-printed veneer with a self-adhesive back, cut to the outline of the decks of the Flyhawk FH1148 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for a ship kit in 1:700 scale, not a model. The package holds a sheet of thin wooden veneer with printed plank laying and an adhesive layer on the back. It is glued onto the plastic deck of the kit, to whose shape it is cut. The set is cut for the Flyhawk FH1148 kit, and we ask you to check the match before buying.
Wood reacts to light differently from plastic. While a painted plastic area reflects light evenly and comes across as flat, veneer has fibers that scatter light unevenly, so the deck looks deeper and more natural. On a 1:700 model that is a difference apparent at first glance and one that paint can imitate only with great effort and an uncertain result.
Veneer is a natural material and reacts to its surroundings. Work in a dry room at ordinary room temperature, because in damp the wood expands slightly and may then lift at the edges once dry. A cold sheet, on the other hand, is stiffer and seats less well in a curve. Keep the unused part and the offcuts flat between two boards, never rolled, and out of direct sun, which bleaches wood. It is good to seal a deck once glued with matte varnish, which protects it both from airborne moisture and from grease on the fingers.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
