About product

Decals American types in the Soviet sky 1:72 — with photo-etched parts (AML)

A decal set from the Czech manufacturer AML in 1:72 scale from the line devoted to American aircraft serving with the Soviet Air Force. Besides the decal sheet, the package also holds photo-etched parts, so you upgrade the model in markings and in detail alike. The particular types and schemes are not stated here.

The real subject

Under the Lend-Lease program the United States delivered thousands of aircraft to the Soviet Union. American fighters and bombers received Soviet national insignia, often distinctive lettering and emblems of their new crews as well, and fought on the Eastern Front from the Caucasus to the Arctic Circle. The combination of American design and Soviet markings is among the most interesting modeling subjects of the Second World War.

Building and application tips

Separate the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface, bend them in tweezers or in a bender and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue or with a glue made for photo-etched parts. Fit the photo-etched parts and paint them over before the decals go on; then settle the decals on a gloss base by the wet method and even the whole out with varnish.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers building American types in Soviet service in 1:72
  • Admirers of the Eastern Front and of the Lend-Lease program
  • Builders who want to add photo-etched detail to a model
  • More advanced modelers used to combining several techniques

This is a decal set with photo-etched parts; the kit itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.

FAQ

A decal sheet and a photo-etched fret. The particular aircraft types and schemes are not stated here.

Separate them with a sharp knife on a hard surface, bend them with tweezers and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Fit and paint them before the decals go on.

A beginner will manage the decals, but photo-etched parts take a little practice, so the set suits moderately advanced modelers best.
