The fifth part of the OWL decal series for the Dornier Do 215 B type in 1:72 scale. The series is divided into several parts, so you can put together markings for more machines of the same type and build them one after another.
The Do 215 B follows on from the design of the Do 17 Z, from which it differs above all in its power plant with inline engines. The type was used for reconnaissance and bombing, and some of the machines were later modified for night tasks. The silhouette is slender, with a markedly glazed forward part of the fuselage, so a model takes careful markings well, as they are not lost on the smooth areas of the fuselage.
Before you set about the decals, unify the surface with gloss varnish, otherwise air will be trapped under the film and the marking will turn white. Cut the elements out as closely as possible, settle them with a damp brush and draw the surplus water off with a paper towel from the center toward the edges. Across rivets and panel lines a stronger softener helps, but let the decal dry without touching it. A final matte varnish will unify the gloss and hide the edges of the film.
