Replacement engine exhaust nozzles in the closed position, in 1:72 scale, for a model of the F-14D Tomcat carrier fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F-14D Tomcat is a twin-engined carrier fighter. The cross-section of its exhaust nozzles changes with the engine setting, so the nozzles look different on a machine standing and on one in flight. This set captures them in the closed position and replaces the kit parts with them.
On a model of a jet aircraft the nozzles are seen deep from behind and the eye picks out any simplification at once. An injected part tends to be split into halves, so a seam runs across it that has to be filled inside the cone, where it is hard to reach. A replacement part removes that work and the inner shape tends to be finer.
The parts are not of polystyrene, so they are glued with super glue, not with cement for plastic. Cut the surplus material and the traces of production off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder, so that the edge seats on the fuselage without a gap. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Do not paint the nozzles in one shade: inside they tend to be darker, and the surface around the mouth carries traces of high temperatures, which can be suggested with light coats of metal and brownish shades. Test the seating dry before you reach for glue.
Replacement nozzle parts are supplied. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
