A photo-etched accessory for a model of the F/A-18E Super Hornet aircraft in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F/A-18E Super Hornet is an American carrier-based multirole aircraft, the single-seat version of the larger development line derived from the older Hornet. It serves to attack ground and air targets and is one of the mainstays of carrier aviation. A model of such a machine lives or dies by its small surfaces: the grilles, hinges, straps and placards, which in plastic at 1:72 scale can only come out coarse.
The set is a photo-etched metal fret for 1:72 scale, intended for a model of the F/A-18E. Which particular parts of the model it supplements and which kit it is prepared for is given in the manufacturer's instructions; the scope of photo-etched accessories differs from one to another.
Separate the photo-etched metal parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface; nipping them off with scissors would deform them. Level off the remains of the connecting tab with a fine file or sandpaper. Run the bends along the marked lines, ideally in a bending tool or between the jaws of flat tweezers, so that the edge is sharp and straight. They are glued with super glue applied in a minute amount, and on larger areas epoxy helps. Degrease the metal before painting and apply a thin primer, otherwise the paint will rub off the smooth surface.
For modelers who want to push the level of detail at a small scale to where a plastic kit leaves off and who do not mind working with tiny metal parts.
The package contains a photo-etched fret. The model, paints, glue and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
