A precisely cast rudder for building the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter in the A-3 version in 1:72 scale. It is not an airplane kit but a resin accessory that replaces the part from the plastic kit with a more faithful shape and fine fabric ribbing. It is made by Quickboost, a brand of the Aires company.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-3 was one of the early production sub-versions of the German Fw 190 fighter with the BMW 801 radial engine. It was an exceptionally agile and rugged machine of the Second World War. The rudder forms a prominent area on the vertical tail and is a rewarding place to add detail.
Wash the resin casting in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent. Cut off the casting block and clean up the surface, then bond the part with super glue (cyanoacrylate). A thin wash and a light edge highlight will bring out the structure of the covering. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
