1:72 Fw 58 B Nachtschlacht with MG 17 is an OWL decal sheet for a model of the armed B version of the Focke-Wulf Fw 58 Weihe in night ground-attack service.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals for a plastic model of the Focke-Wulf Fw 58 Weihe in the B version in 1:72 scale. Against the sheets for the unarmed variants of the same type, this one is aimed at an armed machine in night ground-attack service; the name also specifies the armament with the MG 17 machine gun. The package contains a printed carrier film, not a kit. The number of schemes, the dimensions and the target kit are not stated here.
The Fw 58 Weihe was a twin-engine multipurpose machine with air-cooled inverted engines, used for training, liaison, ambulance and transport tasks. The B version was the armed variant intended for the training of gunners and for auxiliary tasks. The MG 17 was a fixed aircraft machine gun of 7.92 mm caliber, common in German armament of the time. The abbreviation Nachtschlacht refers to the night ground-attack units which from 1943 committed older and training types to night harassing attacks; their machines carried dark finishes and subdued markings.
On a dark night finish the border of the carrier film is more visible than in any other situation, because a glossy outline arises around the character. Trim close to the printing, therefore, and with a sharp scalpel, the characters separately and not as a block. Cut on glass or on a cutting mat, as a paper surface will blunt the blade within a few cuts and a blunt blade drags the film and tears it. With small lettering it is better to leave a very narrow border than to risk cutting into the printing.
The decals are an accessory to a model. The kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
