Five Polish F-16 aircraft of the Block 52 plus version on a sheet in 1:72. Four single-seat and one two-seat machine from the home base near Poznan, states of the years 2006 and 2010.
Responsibility details are not available.
In 2003 Poland signed an order for forty-eight F-16 aircraft in the Block 52 plus version and began taking them over from 2006. At the time it was the largest European contract for this type, and the new machines were given a name after a bird of prey. The recognition features of the Polish batch are the conformal fuel tanks on the spine of the fuselage and four-digit fuselage numbers beginning with a four. Anyone building present-day equipment will appreciate that these are machines in the state in which they can still be seen at air shows today.
All five subjects come from an airfield near Poznan, where a Polish tactical air wing is based. Four are single-seaters, the fifth the two-seat training and combat version. Three variants are dated to the same October day of 2010, so the subject was evidently one documentation session. One of those machines is on the sheet a second time, this time in a state four years older, which makes it possible to build a pair showing the change of markings over time.
On a modern fighter there is incomparably more small warning lettering than on an aircraft from the war, and it is precisely that which decides whether a finished model looks believable. Set aside plenty of time for it, work with pointed tweezers and a dampened brush. A glossy layer belongs under the markings, and over the finished work a semi-matte coat is then drawn, which evens out the sheen of the whole surface. Gray lettering on a gray base otherwise disappears once matted down.
