Injection-molded plastic kit of the German E-50 Standardpanzer project tank in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model represents a vehicle from the so-called E-series (Entwicklung), a study of standardized tanks that never got past the drawing board during the Second World War. The box holds hull and turret parts on several sprues along with the tracks, and from them you build a hypothetical heavy tank of the 50 to 75 ton class.
The E-50 was part of the German standardized E-series tank program, which was to replace the fragmented range of armored vehicles then in service. The 50 to 75 ton class vehicle came close to the Tiger II in size, but was to have a simpler hull that was cheaper to build. It never left the design stage and no prototype was built, which places it among the so-called paper panzers.
Assemble the running gear and the lower hull tub and paint them before you close the hull. Because this is a project vehicle, you have a free hand with the camouflage within the range of late German schemes. Pick out the edges with a dry brush, run a wash into the panel lines and add dust and mud pigments to the lower areas for a convincing look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
